New Review Paper on “Moral Obligations for Synthetic Biology Research”

In the "Libraries" section it is available the seventh paper of the Review Series on Policy, Ethics and Security Aspects of Biosecurity. The paper, by Stefan Eriksson from the Center of Research Ethics and Bioethics of the University of Uppsala, discusses ethical aspects arising from synthetic biology, with specific regard to the dual use issue. It also discusses different types of moral obligations that may apply to synthetic biology – but not necessarily raising the need for novel frameworks.

The paper, by Maurizio Balistreri from University of Torino in Italy presents the philosophical and ethical debate on the questions of enhancement of human nature and performance, thanks to developments in biotechnology and science.
